Ok if you’ve ever thought of dating online and thought it was weird, check out these statistics.
FACT: Here’s an interesting fact. Did you know this?… According to Match.com there are 6 women for every 4 men on its Dating site! And on Facebook according to the PEW Research Center, a whopping 64% of users are women and 36% are men!
Now I don’t know about you, but I’ll take those odds any day verses a local bar or club, where it’s not uncommon to find yourself in a sword fight with 75% dudes and 25% women or worse.
Oh yeah she’s not online you say? What I’m about to show you is going to blow your mind, if not just for the dating opportunities, but for the sheer brilliance of the business. Ok check this out. I was surfing the net trying to find out how many women out of the total population in the US ages 18-64 are on Facebook, when I couldn’t find the statistic, I went and figured it out for myself. Now can you guess what percentage of women are on Facebook just in the United States? 88% (show screenshots) that’s almost 9 out of 10 women in the US. And this statistic is almost as consistent in other developed countries like Canada, Australia and Europe.
So I think its fair to say… you’re more likely to get struck by lightning… than NOT FINDING your ideal match online. Hey, if she ain’t online she’s probably hiding in a hole and… perhaps a long lost relative of rip van winkle or something… so unless you’re into 250 year old women that sleep under a tree… she’s online.
As far as being judged by your piers… well guess what? Guilty! (look around then point at myself) I put off online dating for years, I WAS TOTALLY AGAINST IT and thought I’d be labeled a looser who couldn’t find anyone and had to resort to… online dating.
But statistics from Reuters, Herald News, PC World and the Washington Post show that 76% of all single people in the US alone have opened an online dating profile and its now socially accepted as “Normal.” This means those friends you might be worried about, have probably already been dating online.
So if you aren’t already online, its time to dive in, its the future and the biggest benefit is you can expose yourself to 100’s of times more matches then you could ever do offline.
